J. Peter Burkholder (born June 17, 1954) is an American musicologist and author. His research interests include twentieth-century music, Charles Ives, musical borrowing, American music, analysis, and music history pedagogy.He is the co-author of A History of Western Music, 9th Edition, with Donald Jay Grout and Claude V.
